Good evening everybody ,

I feel honoured to extend a hearty welcome to our distinguished chief guest of today’s function, Col. Rajeev Gautam ,Col GS HQ Andhra Sub Area ,Nominee Chairman VMC KVT and Mrs. Meenakshi who has kindly agreed to distribute the prizes on this Annual Day function.

It is my privilege and pleasure to welcome the gathering of parent community ,invited guests ,students ,teachers and all others present here .

Ladies and gentleman,

Its my customary duty to present before you a brief roundup of the current academic session .

I believe that the purpose of education is to replace an empty mind with an open mind .The direction in which education starts a child will determine his future life . The whole object of education should be to develop the mind that works and,to free a child’s potential by instilling in him a curiosity to learn ,so that he will continue to learn as long as he lives .

 Being the oldest and the biggest school in the region, our school has always remained a center for a great number of activities at school, cluster, regional and national levels providing opportunities and exposure for children to a wide variety of invaluable learning experiences.


KV’s are pace setting institutes and they are chosen for the implementation of new programmes in teaching ,testing and evaluation .CCE (Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation) is implemented in our Vidyalaya from class I to X .CCE removes stress in learning and provides opportunities to children to participate in activities they are good at and helps them earn better credits .

There is no detention in Primary and Secondary .In class X Board exam we achieved 100% pass .A total of 244 children appeared for class X exams. 5% of these children secured the highest CGPA of 10 ,18% obtained CGPA of 9,about 73% of students obtained CGPA of 6 and above .

In class XII we achieved 97.5% pass with a performance index of 61.1 which is the highest ever in the Vidyalaya in the past one decade. 

Master Rohit Bhardwaj of Commerce stream secured 100 % in Accountancy and 99% in Business Studies under the able guidance of his teacher Mr. G.Elancharan .Four students from Science and one student from Commerce stream obtained 90% and above in Board Exams .Master Atul Bhandari has topped in the Humanities stream at the regional level, achieving this distinction to our school for the second consecutive year.

Sports and Games

Strenuous exercise and interest in games is an outlet for the vigour of youth. Ample opportunities were provided to our children to play and prove their mettle in various sports and games at school, cluster, regional and national level competitions.

At  the  regional  level  sports   meet, our under 14 ,under 16 , under 19 boy’s and girl’s teams have bagged 37 gold ,12 silver,23 bronze    medals in athletics, cricket, football,hockey,hanadball,kabbaddi,kho-kho,taekwondo,swimming,badminton, Lawn tennis ,chess etc.

A large contingent of 51 students including boys and girls participated in the KVS National Sports Meet held at Delhi and Chandigarh.

Master Sashi Bhushan of class X C secured gold in 3000 and 5000 mts and silver in 15000 mts athletic events and received a cash award of Rs. 6500 at the Nationals in Chandigarh .

In the first ever Sports Meet conducted for primary children, our students won the overall rolling shield in athletics and first position in Kho-Kho, boys and girls .


Co-curricular activities provides children opportunities to showcase their talents. In the investiture ceremony held in August, school appointees were honoured with badges. Housewise and open House competitions were conducted throughout the year in solo song, Sanskrit recitation ,drawing and painting ,English extempore ,English recitation ,Group song, Group dance etc.

Our primary children participated in cluster level competitions in Hindi recitation and English story-telling held at KV Picket and KV Bolarum ,and won Ist ,IInd and IIIrd positions in these competitions .Many of our students participated in the Drawing and Painting Competitions held at KV, Begumpet .

A number of competitions were conducted in September in connection with Hindi Pakhwara and both students and teachers took part in the competitions and won prizes .Days of National and International importance like World Health Day ,World Population Day,Ambedkar’s Birthday,Gandhi Jayanti,Children’s Day,Republic Day ,Independence  Day,Vigilance Awareness Week ,National Science Day,Grand parents day  were celebrated on these occasions to promote secularism ,unity ,harmony and to spread the message of peace and universal brotherhood .I feel very happy to tell you that a few of our children have got rare opportunities to show their talents in different fields .

Kum. Mini Mandi of class XII got the unique opportunity of participating in a Space Camp in USA, sponsored  by NASA . She was one of the five school children selected from our country to take part in this programme.

D Kamla Nabha Sharma of VI A acted in films like Rama Rajyam and ‘O My friend’.

Kum. Tejaswani Of Class VII presented a dance performance in the Inaugural Ceremony at the International Children’s Film Festival held at Shilpa Ramam .

Also ,her name entered in the Limca Book of World records for giving an hour long BharatNatyam performance on a brass plate on an inverted mud pot.


Art competitions  

Our children participated in a number of drawing and painting competitions conducted in connection with National Recycling Day, Education Day ,International Year of Chemistry ,Save fuel Save money,Postal Stamp Designing ,All India Art & Exhibition contest of ONGC Rajhmundary .In the painting compettion conducted by Lions Club, Anugraha of IX E stood first ,Karishma of VII B stood second ,Tabasum of IX B got III prize and they all got cash awards .


Scouts and Guides

As we have a large number of trained Scouts & Guides teachers and Leaders Trainers on our faculty,the Scouts and Guides movement is not only very active in our Vidyalaya but our team spearheads the Scout movement in the entire Region.

This year, two of our scouts and one guide were awarded the Rajya Puraskar award at the camp held in Bangalore. Thirty five scouts, Thirteen Guides qualified for Tritya Sopan Testing camp held at KV Hakimpet.

Two of our students –Nikita Nayak of XII D and Praveen Pandey of XI D presented their mini research papers at National Children’s Congress held at Jaipur.

Sri. Janardan Charyulu , TGT Maths and Sri B. Sukumar ,PGT Geography conducted scouter guider meet and PM’s shield competition workshop at Tirupati.

Four of our teachers ,Mrs Zakirunnissa, Mrs. BAL Sarda ,Md. Jamal and V S Krishna were conferred with Unit Leader awards 2011 for their dedicated service in the Scout’s and Guide’s movement .


This year we have made huge improvements in the ICT infrastructure of the Vidyalaya .A few of them are : Procurement of Nine high configuration computers ,two LCD projectors ,Development of LAN facility at Junior Computer Lab, upgradation of Broadband speed from 8 MBPS to 16 MBPS .We have also launched a new website which is available at



Our Library has been enriched with subscriptions for more number of newspapers, magazines, Educational periodicals and acquisition of a large number of books in fiction and in all school subjects both in Hindi and English.

Social Science Exhibition 

Four of our exhibits were selected for the National Level Social Science Exhibition  held at Aliganj,Lucknow . Master  Souvik Chaudhury represented Hyderabad Region at the National exhibition and bagged second position.


Science Exhibition and International Year of Chemistry

8 of our exhibits were selected for the Regional level science exhibition,two of them were forwarded to the National Children’s Science Congress ,one of which was selected to represent the Hyderabad Region at the National Science Exhibition in Delhi .

In connection with the celebration of ‘International Year of Chemistry’ various competitions like quiz ,debate and essay writing were conducted at the Vidyalaya ,Cluster and Regional levels .Our quiz team consisting of Anirban,Rakesh,Pradeep and Pradesh of classes XII and XI bagged the second position at the regional level quiz competition held at KV Picket .

Science Maths and Cyber Olympiad

Around 30 students participated in the National Cyber Olympiad.

About 223 students appeared in Science Olympiad and 120 students appeared for the Maths Olympiad conducted by SOF and the results are awaited.

Our class X students participated in the National level Junior Maths Olympiad of KVS and the results are yet to be announced .



KVS has instituted Regional level and National level Best Teacher Awards for the first time . I am extremely happy to announce that three of our teachers : Mr. TAV Sharma ,PGT Physics,Mr.Janardan Charyulu TGT Maths and Mrs. Sulakshan Sharma PRT have received National level awards ,and another three members of our faculty Mrs. Kalpana Nagar Vice Principal ,Mrs. BAL Sarda HM, and Smt. A Sharda PRT ,have received Regional level awards for their meritorious and dedicated services to the teaching profession .Here, I must acknowledge my sincere thanks to our Nominee Chairman ,Col. Rajeev Gautam ,who infact was instrumental in forwarding the applications of these people in time by affixing his signature .

Two of our teachers : Mr. SM Chavali ,TGT Maths and Mrs. Rita Parthasarthi PRT have retired on superannuation .

Another 12 teachers have been transferred to other Vidyalayas as per new transfer guidelines .But we have got immediate replacements in all those vacancies by regular teachers.

Physical Infrastructure

The newly constructed Multipurpose Hall ‘Kalamandir’ has come into full use and it is the venue for a number of school, cluster, and regional level programmes .Regional Principals conference was held twice at this venue in July and September this year .


Ladies and gentlemen .

The teacher’s job is to help  children change for better .The process of teaching is a cooperative endeavor .I wish to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to all my staff members with whose cooperation  we have been able to carry out all programmes and academic activities . I would also like to express my grateful thanks to our Chairman, Nominee Chairman, all our higher authorities ,the parent community and students whose whole-hearted  cooperation has enabled us to complete all our tasks successfully .
